Early in 1975 Mole, who was known as Paul Preston at that time, was offered an exhibition in the renouned Oxford Gallery, Oxford. The formidable Joan Crossley Holland set November as the month.
Until this time, Preston had concentrated on making decorative chains and ear rings. He realised that chain was not enough and turned his mind to pendants, brooches and small boxes for keeping chain or ear rings in; the design of chain matching the design of the box.
